Pressure Management Seminar

Master Builders Business Training & Function Centre Bunbury
The battering wild winds and flooding rains in Bunbury didn’t stop this ‘eager to learn more’ group of occupational therapists, clinical nurses and healthcare professionals from attending our Pressure Management Seminar on Thursday 9 August. The Master Builders Business Training & Function Centre in Bunbury provided us with a safe haven to teach and comfortably discuss everything about pressure care.
Largely attended by healthcare professionals working for WA Country Health Service and aged care providers in the South West, Annette Terranova – Occupational Therapist and Trainer at Unicare Health, delivered another insightful pressure care information session for the group.
Riding on the wealth of knowledge she’s accumulated from receiving pressure care training around the world and armed with more than 25 years of working as at occupational therapist in aged care, Annette shared valuable insights about new methods of pressure care injury prevention and pressure management techniques with the group.
The goal of this pressure management seminar was to provide industry updates and to share new pressure management methods to healthcare professionals so as to enable them to effectively prescribe the ‘optimal equipment solution’ for their client’s ‘specific needs’.
Annette stressed that no two pressure injuries are the same and that every individual’s pressure care needs has to be accessed independently.
Nathan Smith from Juvo Solutions – distributors of world class Care of Sweden mattresses for pressure injury prevention and treatment – joined in a guest presenter at the seminar.
Nathan hosted an interactive session on different types of pressure care mattresses, sleeping surfaces and their pressure care functions.
Pulling covers off pressure care mattresses to expose underlying state-of-the-art technology behind pressure relief and pressure redistribution, Nathan delivered a down-to-earth and practical overview for the group, many of whom have never seen the inside of a pressure care mattress or understood the technology behind its effectiveness.
Based on the feedback we received at the end of the seminar, 100% of all attendees agreed that this seminar
– was relevant to them and their role
– taught them new skills/concepts to apply during work and
– has improved their confidence as a healthcare professional
