Unicare Health attends National Aged Care Symposium in Brisbane

National Aged Care Symposoium 2019

National Aged Care Symposium 2019
22-23 February 2019
Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland

“As the preferred equipment partner to major aged care service providers in WA, attending the symposium is Unicare Health’s initiative to better understand industry challenges and gain insights to new technologies in aged care. This gives us an advantage in engineering and delivering new equipment solutions based on our customer’s specific needs. This is our enabling power of applied knowledge.”

Unicare Health’s Clinical Educator Annette Terranova joined other West Australian occupational therapists last weekend at Occupational Therapy Australia’s (OTA) inaugural National OT Aged Care Symposium in Brisbane.

Attended by over 200 delegates, this year’s Symposium theme Respect: Relate: Renew explores the changing aged care landscape including the move towards consumer directed care.

The shift toward consumer directed care has resulted in service providers adapting to new models of service delivery and implementing the latest innovations in the aged care sector.  More Australians are choosing to remain at home rather than moving into residential aged care.

A spotlight has been cast on wellness and reablement, enabling older people to continue to live independently and actively participate in society.

With a focus on new technologies, reablement and new models of funding sources, the National Aged Care Symposium certainly provided an excellent opportunity for occupational therapists to have robust conversations around the provision of aged care services to older Australians.
