1 September 2017 marked the day of our annual team building day.
The day began with clear skies and a light breeze. A perfect day to be putting, striking and swinging on the green! The excitement leading up to the day prompted punctuality in a way and the whole Unicare Team was assembled at Swan Valley Oasis Supa Golf and raring to go at 8.30am on the dot!
Staff from sales, marketing, administration, accounting & finance, purchasing, operations, human resources, IT services and customer care were all tossed into the mix and split into diverse teams. Eagerly making our way through the supa golf administration, we all came out individually armed with a supa golf buggy containing four clubs, a brightly coloured ball, and a simple team scoring card.
At supa golf, the layout of each hole is similar to a traditional golf course with obstacles and hazards such as bunkers, water features and trees in the way. What fun we had strategizing how to fetch balls from the water as a team and pushing each other out of the way to avoid balls that were falling from trees!
The holes on the ground are approximately three times the size of a hole found on a traditional golf course! But still we managed to miss, laugh together and cheer each other on!
Supa golf is deliberately designed to be user-friendly and enjoyable rather than a test for the best golfers. It is an opportunity to play the game in an easier format and thus makes it very enjoyable. In this case, it was the company, friendship and teamwork that made the difference!
It was a perfect day to be on the green, a perfect day to leave our professionalism in the office and just spend time getting to know everyone in the company on a personal level over jokes, happy chatter and have I mentioned our glorious lunch?
Off we go to The Henley Brook, and on the green, a marquee was set up for our lunch! Over friendly efficient restaurant service we enjoyed an extremely well organized lunch, chatted over drinks and played games on the open inviting lawn for the rest of the afternoon! It was certainly a great day out over activities that enabled everyone to work together in a different light and make new connections in a fun-filled and relaxed setting.
