Overview
The purpose of this seminar is inform Hospital, Community, Disability and Aged Care health professionals and care workers of the current knowledge surrounding the treatment and prevention of pressure injuries. Highlighted will be how pressure injuries occur and the current staging of pressure injury development. It will explore how current pressure injury practice principles can be implemented to various care settings and client needs to maintain quality of life, maximise function and maintain a safe working environment for health care industry staff. Additionally there will be a focus on the role of various support surfaces in pressure injury prevention and treatment and how to choose what is the most appropriate equipment for individuals and facilities.

Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Nursing Staff, Health Care workers and Care Co-ordinators across all health care sectors.

About the speaker
Annette Terranova is an occupational therapist and trainer with over 30 years experience working in healthcare. Annette has worked extensively as a clinician and consultant within the aged care sector and more recently as Clinical Educator and Trainer for Unicare Health . Her passion surrounds pressure management, manual handling and seating, leading to her participation in National and International Conferences and Events to keep abreast of the latest developments in these areas. Annually she attends EPUAP and NPUAP events to seek the most up to date research knowledge and practice strategies surrounding pressure injury prevention.
Annette has significant experience in prescribing products to facilitate safe and effective manual handling, seating and positioning, falls prevention, dementia care, mobility and pressure injury prevention, and has assisted hundreds of other therapists with education in these areas and prescribing the optimal equipment solution for specific needs.
