Unicare Health would like to thank Katrina Liddiard, Occupational Therapy Lecturer at Edith Cowan University for inviting us to share knowledge on the practicalities of pressure cushion prescription with third year Occupational Therapy students.
Unicare Health’s clinical educator and trainer Annette Terranova took great pleasure in sharing her knowledge and experience on pressure cushion prescription with 70 third year Occupational Therapy students at Edith Cowan University across 3 Assistive Technology labs.
As part of her Assistive Technology unit this semester, Katrina Liddiard, Occupational Therapy Lecturer at Edith Cowan University invited Unicare Health to share equipment knowledge on pressure cushions, with a focus on the practicalities of pressure cushion prescription.
Armed with a wide selection of different pressure cushions from standard foam cushions to complex gel and foam combinations, Annette thoroughly enjoyed her time with students, opening cushion covers to expose technologies behind different seating systems and discussing their suitability for clients with different needs. ROHO cushions were highlighted as an effective device that uses air technology to offer effective immersion and envelopment to promote pressure redistribution.
Students had a chance at sitting on different cushions, pressure mapping cushions and inflating ROHO cushions.
