Unicare Health would like to thank Hall and Prior Aged Care Group for inviting us to contribute and impart new-found manual handling industry knowledge to your next generation of aged care leaders.
It was a lovely early morning start on Tuesday, 29 May 2018, for both Unicare Health and Hall and Prior Aged Care Group. The Burswood on Swan Function Centre that provides sweeping views of the Perth city skyline and the new Optus stadium greeted us with a very scenic entrance.
Unicare Health is very honoured to have been invited to join Hall and Prior at their training workshop for manual handling leaders.
The purpose of this training workshop was to educate Hall and Prior’s manual handling leaders, new and improved management techniques surrounding manual handling methods and safety challenges.
Quality ongoing education is part of Hall and Prior’s strive to empower their staff with the skills necessary to provide their clients with the highest quality of care.
Unicare Health’s occupational therapist and trainer, Annette Terranova, shared with the group, through practical interactions, her new-found manual handling knowledge from the recent 8th Biannual AAMHP Conference in Melbourne and the 19th European Pressure Ulcer Conference that she attended late last year. She also shared with the group modern aged care strategies she’s learnt from other healthcare conferences she has travelled the world to attend this year, such as the 9th International Ageing Asia Innovation Forum in Singapore.
New and intelligent manual handling techniques to aid patient care is readily being improved. For best outcomes to be achieved, being up-to-date with patient transfer strategies and effective use of equipment functions is imperative.
