Unicare Health would like to thank Rockingham Hospital for inviting us to share manual wheelchair scripting knowledge with your Occupational Therapy team.
Unicare Health’s clinical educator and trainer, Annette Terranova, enjoyed her time at this session sharing her knowledge and experience scripting manual wheelchairs for individuals with different needs.
Armed with a range of wheelchairs and accessories, Annette talked about considerations to take when prescribing seating systems and hardware. Prescribing the correct seating system is critical for patients with complex positioning needs and having the right knowledge and skills to script an active chair is key to providing the optimal solution for specific needs.
Annette talked about the importance of taking proper measurements during the scripting process and showed therapists best practices for taking accurate measurements.
She also talked about individual wheelchair components like back rests, wheels, arm rests, foot plates and more and what to consider when scripting them to maximize mobility and functional capacity.
Therapists had a chance to look at different types of wheelchair components and took the opportunity to ask lots of questions.
Unicare Health would like to thank Rockingham Hospital for including us in your education program for therapists. We enjoyed a rewarding time sharing wheelchair scripting skills and trust that the information and knowledge we’ve shared will add significant value to maximize patient outcomes.
