World Continence Week

Did you know that more than 5 million Australians live with bladder and bowel incontinence?
World Continence Week is held from June 17 – 23 this year. It is the Continence Foundation of Australia’s annual national awareness campaign. This year’s theme, “Laugh without Leaking“, aims to use humour to break down barriers for this serious, stigmatised health condition and urges people of all ages and genders to make simple life changes for the better.
This year, Unicare Health is helping to raise the awareness of continence issues by sharing resources and initiatives from World Continence Week. We will be giving out continence guides, healthy pelvic floor brochures, healthy bladder education materials and lots more, to our customers.
We will also be raising the awareness of continence products and solutions and offering free continence product samples for trial so that everyone can Laugh without Leaking.

Disposable Continence Products

Disposable pads promote convenience. However, it is important to select a product that is easy to use, correctly sized and of the right absorbency to suit your needs. A larger pad tends to absorb more urine. Some are designed for faecal incontinence with built in odour control. A pad that is ill-fitting can leak and cause skin abrasions. Washable Continence Products
Washable continence products offer a cost-effective solution to some continence issues. These include surface protectors and underwear with built-in pads to absorb urine. These are available in different sizes, absorbencies and colours.
Mattress and Chair Protectors
Protectors for mattress and seating surfaces, have a waterproof backing to protect the surface. They can be used alone or in addition to pads and pants. These protectors can be disposable or reusable and are designed to draw urine away from the body. These are available in different sizes, absorbencies and colours.
