Unicare Health would like to congratulate Esperance Aged Care on the successful expansion of the current 105-bed government subsidised facility.
Soon to be ready, the new expansion wing will be equipped to accommodate 34 new elderly residents. There will be 17 general residential places and another 17 for dementia care.
Unicare Health is thankful to have been selected as the preferred equipment partner for this expansion project in the Goldfields.
“We are privileged to be the preferred aged care equipment project partner for regional developments in Western Australia.”
Esperance Aged Care
Located beside the Esperance District Hospital, Esperance Aged Care is a 10 hour drive from Perth in moderate traffic.
Esperance is a popular holiday destination and famous for its breathtaking scenery, turquoise waters and pristine beaches. It is home to Australia’s whitest beach – Lucky Bay – a stunning seascape of 110 islands of the Recherche Archipelago.
Esperance Aged Care is the leading establishment for aged care living in the Esperance area. It is the only aged care service provider of its kind in a 400km radius and plays a crucial role in Esperance’s ability to care for its elderly residents.
This facility makes it possible for people in the region to age peacefully in their home town, close to family and friends.
The expansion of Esperance Aged Care was made possible through Federal Government Funding, State Government Funding and local supporters. More…
Resident Rooms
The resident’s room in a residential aged care facility is often the last living room of people who become care-dependent due to age or illness. For less mobile residents, the bed takes on a central significance and becomes the main focal point for the well-being of a resident.
Due to the significant amount of time a resident may need to reside in bed, comfort and functionality of the bed plays a particularly important role in making everyday life as comfortable as possible.
Unicare Xcel2 nursing care beds with matching side cabinets and over bed/chair tables were selected for their suitability towards this project.
Xcel2 beds feature
- stylish woodgrain panels
- concealed drop down side rails
- easy use remote control for independent height, backrest and knee break adjustments
- an in-built bed length extension to accomodate taller residents
- electric trendelenberg forward and reverse adjustments
- 10 years structural warranty
Care of Sweden’s Optimal 5zon pressure care mattress was the mattress of choice to aid in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers up to category 2, and for pain therapy. It is a soft and flexible mattress that has very good pressure redistribution properties and equipped with a unique DuoCore sit-function to provide support when seated.
Everyday Living and Mobility
Unicare’s lightweight tourer wheelchairs were selected for resident mobility.
These wheelchairs feature
- swing away arm and leg rests for easy resident transfers
- washable upholstery
- easy fold mechanism for convenient transport and storage
A range of JUVOCare shower commodes were selected to assist with resident’s showering and toileting needs. Manufactured using hospital grade stainless steel, these durable commodes are designed to withstand extensive wet area use. They are highly adaptable commodes designed to be easily custom configured to suit the needs of individual users.
A selection of patient transfer hoists by Australian manufacturers Allegro were chosen for their renowned durability, ease of use, outstanding lift range, resident & carer safety features and superior infection control design.
Regency care chairs were the preferred choice for their superior pressure management gel seating system and positioning features against traditional comfort day chairs filled with air comfort bladders that create unstable seating surfaces if not regularly maintained.
Other mobility and everyday living products such as shower chairs, bedside commodes, trolleys and linen carts were also supplied for the project as required.
Project Organization
The Esperance Aged Care project involved diligently coordinating equipment to arrive timely from all over the world and warehousing these items until the building was ready for equipment installation.
Working over a period of 4 days on site, all the 34 beds, accompanying furniture and other facility equipment were unpacked, assembled, tested and installed by Unicare Health’s operations team.
