Thursday 30 May 2019
Master Builders Business Training & Function Centre Geraldton
Riding on the success of our education series featuring the latest research and innovative approaches to prevent and manage Pressure Injuries, our clinical educator and trainer Annette Terranova delivered another impactful Pressure Management Seminar for therapists and clinicians in Geraldton.
Pressure Injuries are currently at the top of the list of hospital acquired complications. With the right strategies in place, they are preventable, unnecessary causes of pain.
Annette’s participation at the National Pressure Advisory Panel (NPUAP) 2019 Annual Conference in America, National Aged Care Symposium 2019 in Brisbane, 20th Annual Meeting of European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel in Rome and Wounds Australian National Conference 2018 provided her with a wealth of updated knowledge about Pressure Injury Prevention and Management initiatives happening in Australia and overseas.
Combined with her experience working in aged care for over 30 years, Annette’s provided a comprehensive overview of Pressure Injury Prevention and Care, including interactions that focussed on the practicalities of seating and positioning to prevent pressure injuries and improved patient transfer methods to reduce shear.
Attendees at this seminar included therapists and clinicians from Geraldton Hospital, St. John Of God Geraldton Hospital, Silver Chain, Neurological council of WA, and various nursing & community care providers.
Seminar participants indicated on their feedback forms that this seminar
• was relevant to them and their role
• taught them new skills/concepts to apply during work and
• has improved their confidence as a healthcare professional
