Perth Disability Service Provider & Participant Connection Expo 2021
Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre
11-12 June 2021
The Disability Service Provider and Participant Connection Expo provided an environment for participants, parents, carers and NDIS service providers to connect and engage.
More than 120 providers participated in the expo to help attendees navigate the complexities of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
This event was free to attend and provided an opportunity for NDIS participants and their families to ask questions about the NDIS, including how to navigate their plans, funds, and options.
Our NDIS team enjoyed a rewarding time promoting our NDIS equipment services to new providers, participants and their and families at the expo.
Our booth showcased the latest in pressure care mattress technology, manual handling equipment, mobile shower commode design, developments in ceiling hoists solutions and more.
Our all-new twilight luxury power lift recliner that offers tilt and endless positioning options was a hit with participants taking a keen interest in its patented 5-motor system that provides unique, rejuvenating positions along with power lumbar support and power headrest.
The Curocell® A4 and CuroCell® IQ range of pressure care mattresses by Care of Sweden – the latest and greatest pressure care solution for individualized healthcare, has gained worldwide attention for its superior design, quality manufacture and pressure distribution properties. These pressure care mattresses promote optimal wound and skin care, reduced manual handling, improved infection control, comfort and user safety, ease of carer and manual handling requirements to achieve better wellness and health outcomes. We were surprised by many NDIS participants who stopped by to tell us their positive experiences using this mattress.
Everyone commented on how cosy looking the Sentida 6 bed by Wissner Bosserhoff was and we look forward to doing further bed trials with all who expressed their interest in its clinical features. The Sentida 6 has set a new standard for clinical care in community disability settings as it delivers user and caregiver safety, falls prevention, pressure injury prevention, functional independence, mobility management, continence care and ease of manual handling requirements.
We also had a successful time showcasing our new powered tilt-in-space shower commodes, which features a battery-powered tilting mechanism for smooth and easy change of seat angle and seat height, reducing the risks associated with manual handling. Our travel commode also generated a lot of attention with families in need of a portable shower commode solution.
Also on display was Australia’s favourite Alto hoist retrofitted with a powered pivot frame, enabling an individual in a sling to be repositioned with minimal manual handling requirements. We enjoyed demonstrating how users can be ideally positioned for safety and comfort during the transfer process and easily tilted using a remote control to achieve upper body stability without the process being a manual handling risk.
Wheelchair users looking to upgrade their chairs to one with greater suspension for better interior manoeuvrability and outdoor performance expressed a keen interest in Sunrise Medical’s new Quickie Q500 powered wheelchair. These Q series powerchairs have one of the lowest turning circles on the market and advanced controller technology, making them ideal for users who want it all!
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) builders who visited the expo were excited to learn how our new Luna convertible ceiling hoist was changing the way ceiling lift solutions are being implemented in disability settings across Western Australia.
Luna is a fixed and portable ceiling hoist in one and the same unit, a truly unique ceiling lift solution. Changing Luna from fixed to portable mode, and vice versa, can be done within seconds by simply detaching and reattaching the unit to the track. No tools are needed. Luna’s total flexibility and elegant composition marks a breakthrough in innovative design, making it the preferred choice for home care use.
